A few weeks ago, AERCE (under its full name in Spanish: Asociación Española de Profesionales de Compra, Contratación y Aprovisionamientos) asked us to give a presentation at its ‘Procurement Day’ in Barcelona, coinciding with the Hispack trade fair, dedicated to the world of packaging.
We were asked to focus the content on one of the questions that has a large part of the world’s buyers intrigued: ‘Is it the end of China as the factory of the world?’ Based on a range of recent publications and surveys, we were able to ascertain that – while the current situation is complex – there does not appear to be an affirmative answer to the question posed.

Even a brief survey at the event made it clear that almost all of the attendees at the Procurement Day buy from China and that of the few who had recently tried to divert their sourcing to alternative markets, few had been successful. We still have China as the ‘factory of the world’ for a long time to come… https://www.aerce.org
