‘Mixue Ice Cream & Tea’, with its full name, is for our Western readers probably a totally unknown brand.
No surprise, because 87% of its shops are in China, some 40,000 out of 46,000 worldwide.
But with 46,000 franchises in operation, Mixue has achieved an extraordinary milestone: as of March 2025, it has become the largest restaurant chain in the world (and with immense growth prospects).
It is almost inevitable to think of McDonald's, Starbucks, Subway or KFC when imagining which of these brands has the largest network of outlets in the world (they are, in fact, number 2, 3, 4, and 5 in the ranking). But #1 is Mixue with its ice cream and tea drinks!
