For yet another year, the S3 Group CEO travelled to China for a series of activities related to the overall management of the company in the Asian country.
These trips in question usually focus on meetings with the Shanghai-based team and visits to the various industrial suppliers that make up the company’s current (and future) network in China.
Factory visits are a critical part for S3 CEO Tom Van der Heyden and include institutional meetings with industrial partners that S3 has been working with for over a decade.
They also include visits to companies that have joined the supplier network in the last year and are already important to the company.
Finally, they can be factories of interest for very new projects, so Tom joins in the task of searching for and selecting suppliers, which is fundamental for S3.
On this occasion, Tom was accompanied on part of the trip by the renowned Catalan expert in SCM, Miquel Serracanta Domenech, whose role in the US-based industry association CSCMP has already been highlighted extensively in previous editions of the S3 Newsletter.
This was Miquel’s first trip to China, giving him privileged access to the “Factory of the World”, with the help of a team of sourcing specialists such as S3.
